anyway, i enjoyed it (sao). but i don't know, you're hard to please,
considering you didn't like greed island on hxh. actually they have nothing to do with each other, but the concept is similar. the story begins in 2022 with the release of a MMORPG where you can basically play as yourself in a virtual world by connecting your brain into some apropriated device. but then the creator of the game disables the log out function and everyone who dies in game dies in real life, same if someone tries to disconnect the device from your brain.
and that's basically it. the main character is one of the most advanced players in the game and then he meets a girl, they fall in love for each other, they decide to live together for some time but they are called to complete the game. i dunno if you're into those love parts, i actually enjoy them because they give the story much more emotion and my girly side speaks higher sometimes. but i got to admit the first 5 or 6 episodes are a bit confusing because he is playing solo and you don't really know about his abilities since you don't see half of his progress in the game.
